In quest of the gunas

We humans are made up of several emotions and it is what makes us what we are. I am in quest to find mine.

What we eat is what we become. What we think is how we act. What we pray is what we beleive. — Atharva Veda

Dear readers,

A few days back I was working on lpg gas price hike analysis and it further led me into food science. I have been a foodie since birth and I love eating and I cant cook at all. But I love to see people cook and enjoy their meal. I came across something called satvic meal. On further study I came to know about vedic diets. Now what was satvic? As per the etymology satvic is a Sanskrit word derive from Sattva. Sattva is one of the 3 gunas, or mixed emotions and qualities. Sattva, Rajas and Tamas are 3 gunas as mentioned in multiple religious as well as philosophical contexts, found mostly in Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism. Sattva is the me who is truthful, selfless and thoughtful as well as obidient, Rajas is the me who is passionate, proactive, forceful and loyal and Tamas is the me who is the lover of darkness, who is deep, who likes the dark, who procrastinates, who is lazy, who does not think about the outcome, ruthless, selfish, the one in secrecy and angry. It is all me, and each of these make me who I am, nobody is purely one Guna but a complex mixture of this and that and all of it. I personally love all these Gunas and to be honest I prefer being Rajasic for I know I can’t be satvic or tamasic purely. It is beautiful how one emotion chains with another and how something as simple as food can have such great influence over ones character.

Shoma Mortia(creator of mortia therapy) always adviced his patients to be generous and rich in emotion and food. He said to accept feelings and let them pass by, not to hold too long to one emotion.

This all reminded me of 1 more quote, here it goes :-

First offer to God what you eat. One must not eat unoffered food. As your food is, so will be your blood — Ma Sarada or Sarada Devi

Ones again, try finding and accepting your emotions of fear, anxiety, affection, love, kindness, passion and dark. Oh! Quite a juxtaposition of words, ain’t it?

Do let me know your thoughts? If the blog was fun or not. I was away for a long time, after exams are over, would try to bring more blogs. Till then, thanks for your support and reading. Take care and good day.
