Covaxin: the breach of trust
How will the poor people get vaccinated? Will discrimination and inequality be one of the biggest problems in vaccinations in India once again? While Bharat Biotech has not addressed the price issue and said recovering the cost is essential. Recovering costs from the poor are not justifiable. Recovering costs from the poor are not justifiable. This is a breach of trust.

Dear readers,
I never wrote an article on covid19 because there were many people, far wiser and better than me, who can give you the best information in the most appealing ways. This is my data journal on vaccination and the story of the inequality in the vaccination of the poor, and the problems that rose as covaxin price increased.
But take it from an Indian, this is not at all the time that India is winning. Every day the numbers are increasing and people are dying. Though vaccines have come, people are still in deep problems. When you see poor people in broken houses and you go ask them what there reason of sorrow is? They will not say hunger or poverty, they will simply say sobbing vaccination and medication.
India, the country to the poor people, here the majority of the country is poor. They can’t afford SputnikV or Covisheild. So when poor people were unable to get vaccinated. The Indian government stated that they were going to vaccinate the poor of India with free doses of covaxin. Covaxin developed by Bharat Bio-Tech was not a very successful vaccine but was the first Indian vaccine to be developed with an accuracy rate of 78% as data shows from the past 3 trials. It had its backdrops. But it was the “Asha ki Kiraan” for thousands, this literally meant the glimmer of hope.
People vaccinated with covaxin were unable to travel via aeroplanes and required doses of Covisheild or SputnikV. SputnikV was approved much later and Covisheild was the most expensive vaccine at that time. Covaxin price increased to rs 200 in Apr 2021. SputnikV was approved much later and Covisheild was the most expensive vaccine at that time. Covaxin price increased to rs 200 in April 2021. The price increase was justified and fair. Many people who have taken the first dose are unable to take the second dose as they can’t afford it. This sudden increase of 500% in price is disastrous. When in the world people are dying, some businesses only know of profits. India has the second-largest population and the prices of vaccines must be controlled. Why are there decision scientists and politicians there? Won’t they regulate the prices of vaccines?
India is the other name of vaccination disaster right now, not even 60% of the Indian population is vaccinated. Only <20% of people are fully vaccinated. These are not random numbers this is data and facts.
The number of covid trackers is also reduced at a level by the politicians for many reasons. We in the data age can get access to proper information. Though every Indian is born with the Right to Information. The covid numbers are looping back again to pre-vaccination situations. What answers do the Government of India have for this phenomenon? While Bharat Biotech has not addressed the price issue and said recovering the cost is essential. Recovering costs from the poor are not justifiable.
Whilst all these problems are unnoticed and unaddressed, hope glimmers as people turn to covishield but the saddest part of the day is that people have taken a dose of covaxin 6 weeks ago can’t afford it now and people cant move towards covisield as they cant mix vaccines. Many people are illegally buying vaccines. When all this is happening, we all hope India emerges from its sorrows and disastrous state. In this week we the Indians are celebrating our 75 th independence anniversary, we the people are not independent yet from al the forms of social evils. The government of the people and the people are constantly driving efforts to reduce the price of vaccines. Several NGOs and Goverment powered initiatives are working on providing vaccines for free or a low cost for the BPL people. Indians have no hopes of being able to reduce the price of the vaccines as after several weeks of protest, Bharat Bio-Tech is unmoved. The only hope is the help of the government.
Thank you, readers. Take care. Stay happy.
